Camping at Cherokee Rock Village

As one of the most beautiful campgrounds in Alabama, Cherokee Rock Village features more than 100 primitive tent sites along with 15 primitive RV-accessible sites that can accommodate units up to 40 feet in length. Fire pits and nearby picnic tables are included at each site.


CRV also features a pavilion for group activities, an observation deck, and a children's playground. Canine companions are welcome as long as they remain on leash. For guest comfort, a heated bathhouse is centrally located near the pavilion, providing convenient access from campsites throughout the park.

Rock Climbing Routes at Cherokee Rock Village

Rock Climbing is the premier attraction at Cherokee Rock Village and has helped establish the park as one of the leading climbing destinations in the Southeast. The park’s expansive sandstone formations feature over 200 established sport, traditional, and bouldering routes, along with convenient access points for setting top ropes. This accessibility and route variety allows climbers of all skill levels to find a place that matches their abilities and feel at home on the rock.


Cherokee Rock Village does not provide guiding, instruction, or outfitting services. Individuals seeking professional instruction must arrange services independently through a permitted commercial guide. All guide services and outfitters are required to obtain a valid commercial permit prior to operating within the park. Organizations interested in obtaining a permit or being listed on the park website should contact the park office for additional information.

  • What are the park's operating hours?

    Cherokee Rock Village is open daily from sunrise to sunset, allowing visitors to enjoy the park’s natural beauty throughout daylight hours. Please plan your visit accordingly to ensure a safe return before dark.
  • What amenities are available on-site?

    The park offers modern amenities while preserving the natural beauty and outdoor character of the park. Visitors have access to a full bathhouse with flush toilets and ADA-accessible showers located in both the men’s and women’s restrooms. Each campsite includes its own picnic table and fire ring, providing a comfortable and convenient setup for campers.


    In addition to camping amenities, the park features designated parking areas, a scenic observation deck, a picnic area with tables and grills, and a playground. A covered pavilion serves as a communal gathering space and may also be reserved for large groups, events, or special occasions.

  • Are pets allowed in the park?

    Pets are welcome but must be kept on a leash no longer than six feet at all times. Owners are responsible for cleaning up after their pets to maintain the park’s cleanliness and safety for all visitors.
  • What safety protocols should visitors follow?

    Visitors should remain on designated trails, supervise children, and keep pets leashed at all times. As with any natural area, uneven terrain, cliffs, wildlife, and changing weather conditions are present, so visitors should use good judgment and come prepared. By entering the park and taking part in activities, guests acknowledge and accept the inherent risks of outdoor recreation. Park staff are available for assistance during regular operating hours.
